Because of the busy touring schedule, Djordje is not able to accept regular weekly students any more. In his down time he spends most of his time in Los Angeles and San Francisco. If you live in any of these cities or if you’re interested in having a lesson while Djordje’s on the road, please check his schedule and send him an email directly at lessons (at) djordjestijepovic (dot) com

I combine my knowledge of all styles that I play to make individual approach to every student. If there’s any particular style you’re interested in, the lessons will be more focused on it. I’m focused on technique as well as music. In general, my lessons are structured for bassists of all levels from beginner to advanced and all styles of traditional and contemporary music including jazz, classical, rockabilly, bluegrass, Balkan, Middleeastern etc. Many students come to me to learn slap bass technique, but I have a lot of experience in teaching arco and pizz as well.

For teaching technique I combine books I found are giving the best results. Some of those are:

  • Montag Lajos “Nagybogoiskola”
  • Ludwig Streicher “Mein Musizieren auf dem Kontrabass”
  • Josef Hrabe “86 Etuden fur Kontrabass”
  • Franz Simandl “Gradus ad Parnassum”
  • E. Madeski “Kontrabass – Studien”
  • Kayser “36 Studies”

I also developed my own program for bassists interested in learning slap bass.

Besides all that, lessons may include:

  • Classical & Jazz Music Theory
  • Sight Reading
  • Ear Training
  • Bass Line Construction
  • Soloing
  • Jazz Improvisation
  • Good time feel
  • Orchestral excerpts
  • Balkan odd time rhythm
  • Middle Eastern Maqams
